June Day Memories

I went to Fort Worth both Friday and Saturday and spotted some places I could visit, so I can go back. On a walking tour, I felt like I was going back in time, and it felt like I was "home." At one place, I was discussing with a guy who remembered a place that I had been. We exchanged ideas, so I can take a photograph of my parents there to show him. It was fun. I talked to my aunt, and was reminded that I looked like a few of my adopted family members. I wanted to have pictures taken of me when I go back, however I don't have family here to take pictures of me. I listened to some music that reminded me of what home means to me. Today, I heard about a fire at Universal Studios. I had been there at one time. I can see pictures of the fire from the newpaper online as well as some video. It was sad.

On 21 May 2008, 05:54 AM, I had posted this on another blog, but wanted to put what was there on this blog so that I may share. It is so hard to capture thoughts and feelings. Some of things I wanted to do, I just have to let go of.

It shows a postcard image of what I remember as a kid. My dad worked at NBC very studio as a security guard. I remember it was at Sunset and Vine. Other details are lost to childhood memories. I was watching a Youtube video of the last show of the original Fugitive and saw that they used Pacific Ocean Park for their location. I remember that too, but I did not get to go back to it later, it had been torn down. Maybe that is why I love Disneyland. It seems to always have been there. My parents would go there once a year, or Knotts Berry Farm. I have pictures of me at all three places. Hollywood was different when I was a kid, but I do remember that famous sign. I also remember USC. The colors they use are my favorite. I was looking at the 40 year Time magazine yesterday, and was reminded of a lot of the pictures there, I knew who was in the picture. I was showing it to someone and explaining/giving commentary about the pictures. That was fun.

We may use different symbols, but it is the Spirit that teaches and reaches everyone who will listen. I was watching the documentary that comes with Malcolm X and remembered those things so clearly. I felt impressed also to watch my favorite part of the movie, when Denzel shows his conversion, it touched me so much. I did a little search and wondered about the fruits of his labor when I heard "we are all brothers and sisters." I remember Gandhi (1982) It is a favorite movie of mine. When I was watching the Young Indy documentary, I realized that they were getting closer to current events, so I had to stop watching and just wait a bit. Gandhi is something I want to study the documentary. The pictures I was seeing was very familiar, as I said above. It felt like I was home. It reminded me of a line " Nothing Happens the Same Way Twice" from The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. The pop tunes were great, especially This Is Home. (I have tried to edit it to reflect what I heard as I listened)

[ This Is Home lyrics found on http://www.completealbumlyrics.com ]

I've got my memories
Always inside of me
But I can't go back
Back to how it was
I believe it now
I've come too far
But I can't go back
Back to how it was
Created for a place
I've never known

Chorus:
This is home
Now I'm finally
Where I belong
Where I belong
Yeah, this is home
I've been searching
For a place of my own
Now I've found it
Maybe this is home
Yeah, this is home
Belief over misery
I've seen the enemy
And I won't go back

Back to how it was
And I got my heart
Set on
What happens next
I got my eyes wide
It's not over yet
We are miracles
And we're not alone

(Chorus)

And now after all
My searching
After all my questions
I'm gonna call it home
I got a brand new mindset
I can finally see
The sunset
I'm gonna call it home

(Chorus)

Now I know
Yeah, this is home

I've come too far
Now I won't go back
Yea, this is home

For some reason, I felt impressed to visit another website. The words there struck home. It is located here.

California Women are trailblazers in everything they do. They've made history by doing things their way. They didn't wait to be asked. They didn't wait to be invited. And they didn't wait to be told! They just did. I love people who just do.
-MARIA SHRIVER

There is a video of the broadcast on that site. Maria and I are close in age, so we have experienced life along with everyone else of our generation. I was touched by the book that she has written and the words that she has spoken, for it touched my heart. You can read her work and about her book: Just Who Will You Be.

I listened to one of the speakers who said:

"The ability to learn how to learn will be the only security you have."
Thomas L. Friedman

Bonnie, thanks so much for going to the temple with me Thurs.--I think you saved me on the way home by distracting me from my near-migraine! Hope you have a great weekend :)
